Bending stress calculator of an I section
The I section is used in the the spars and stringers in a wing of an aircraft so that they can take up the twisting loads due to the wing tip vortices that are formed at high speed. To analyze the stresses that act on the beam, we need to calculate the bending stresses at each and every point of the I section as shown in the figure. (A,B,C etc…) The bending stress is calculated along the Z direction of the beam.
Depending on the stress values, we can calculate the maximum load that the wing can withstand without deformation.
